The kitchen is the heart of the home. The  kitchen table can is your dining, homework, office area and  more.

The time spent  at the dining table, requires you choose one that is functional and durable, without sacrificing style.  How do you choose the right dining  table for your home?

The look of your table is important, but making sure it fits your space and need is even more critical.

Consider Your Space

Consider the size of your kitchen area. Leave  at least  three feet on each side of the table. Think about whether a rectangular, square or round table would  fit your space best.

Seating size
Your table needs to allow for the number of diners you want to seat comfortably and still leave enough room for to walk around it. Measure table-to-wall clearance. Measure the space around the room.  Leave  42-48″ between your table and the walls or other furniture.

If you don’t need a large table now, but need  one for special events or anticipate your needs may grow in the future, choose a dining table with a removable leaf.

Who Will Be Using the Table

Will you use it for just family meals? Or will you entertain as well? How many people will regularly sit down there? Each person requires about 24″ of width so they can comfortably eat and avoid bumping elbows. Its important to find the  balance between form and function.

With a little planning, you’ll find a stylish and functional table that’ll serve you well
